May 2026 Tattle Tails

Animal welfare and sheltering have grown so much in the past sixty years. At each stage and phase, HAWS is proud to support our communities. We all come to the shelter with a different story—each animal, each person. But we all meet here.

January 2026 Tattle Tails

As we enter a new year, it's a great time to reflect on the strong community that HAWS has built alongside the people the organization was originally designed to support. It’s an incredible, cyclical ecosystem that is a marvel to witness. Your Shelter. Our Community. For the Animals We Love.

August 2025 Tattle Tails

Animal welfare and education are key components to every aspect of our work at HAWS. We cannot support the pets of our community without the support of the people of our community. We cannot fulfill our mission without a strong, wide-ranging team of animal welfare advocates. In this issue of the Tattle Tails we focus on the impact of education programs throughout the entire year.

April 2025 Tattle Tails

HAWS was born from visionaries who recognized the importance of animals and elevated them in our community. Since 1965, HAWS has worked with our community to embrace the human-animal bond. No question we're all better for it. - Maggie Tate-Techtmann, Executive Director

February 2025 Tattle Tails

HAWS has been relied upon in the community for nearly 60 years as part of the pack, a haven for pets in need, an education and learning center, and a place where you meet your newest family member. As time ever marches on, over the past few years we’ve seen our pack expand.

August 2024 Tattle Tails

9:00am: While our front doors may have just been unlocked and opened for the day, HAWS has already been a hive of activity for several hours. Kennel caregivers and the SNIP clinic team have been busy bringing the shelter to life, greeting the current residents and prepping for the day ahead. Adoption counselors are busy managing animal accounts, assorted paperwork and a lengthy list of emails and other messages. Let the chaos begin!
