Reading & Rescues

$345 | Grades 2-5 | August 17-21

At Reading & Rescues Camp, kids in grades 2–5 build reading confidence while making a real difference for animals in need! This supportive, fun-filled camp blends literacy activities with hands-on shelter experiences to help campers feel proud of what they already know and excited to keep growing.

Through engaging read-alouds, partner reading, animal-themed stories, and creative projects, campers will practice and reinforce reading skills they’ve already learned—all in a low-pressure, encouraging environment. Children will also spend time meeting shelter animals, learning about animal care, and discovering how reading and communication help animals find forever homes.

This camp is designed to boost self-confidence, encourage teamwork, and help kids see themselves as capable readers and compassionate helpers. No tests, no stress—just positive reinforcement, friendly animals, and plenty of moments to shine.

Camp Highlights:

  • Read to the Animals: Practice reading aloud to calm, nonjudgmental shelter pets—perfect for building confidence and fluency.
  • Confidence-Boosting Reading Games: Fun group activities that reinforce skills kids already know—no pressure, no tests.
  • Creative Literacy Projects: Write short stories, design pet profiles, and create adoption posters to help animals find homes.
  • Animal-Themed Games and Challenges: Campers will engage in fun competitions like an “animal ability relay” or “pet jeopardy” to test their animal knowledge!
