#55: Giving Tuesday

#55: Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a national movement to encourage giving back to non-profits and charitable organizations. Thanksgiving Thursday is followed by Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, so it made sense to create a day in which society stopped buying things for themselves and started giving to those in need.

Each year HAWS participates in Giving Tuesday, often by highlighting a special pet that was or is up for adoption, or a particular program of interest to the community. Past features have included information on the HAWS Schallock Center for Animals, and Annie’s Medical Fund and how it helped Gilbert the dog and Mimi the cat.

Giving Tuesday is also a great time for HAWS to promote donations to our annual appeal, which is mailed out shortly before Thanksgiving. This is our largest formal ask of the year, and supports literally all of the functions of our shelter from animal programs to humane education to community care.

While you’re scrolling social media on Giving Tuesday, please take time to check out HAWS’ information – we’d love you to join our humane community, and the paws, claws and humans of HAWS would be forever grateful.
