#35: Kennel Caregivers

Some Superheroes Wear Scrubs!

Keeping up with any number of dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, rats, iguanas, turtles and more takes a very hard working and dedicated team.

HAWS’ Kennel staff makes sure the animals are clean, fed, happy and healthy. They scoop much more than their fair amount of poop, but they also get lots of tail-wags and happy hops just by being who they are.

We employ both full and part time caregivers. On any given day their duties range from cleaning kennels to mixing meals for dozens of pets to loads of laundry to sanitizing dishes to filling enrichment bowls and more.

BUT, they are also the best advocates for our pets! This crew gives snuggles to the sad pups and shy cats. They notify our vets when someone isn’t feeling right and needs a round of antibiotics and TLC. Just like the rest of us, they also fall in love indiscriminately and end up foster “failing” and adopting.

“I couldn’t work at a shelter because I just love animals too much.” Well, that’s exactly why our kennel staff DOES work at HAWS. And we are grateful every day for their hard work and boundless compassion.

(And poop scooping.)
