HAWS Main Shelter Tour

$25 | 1 hour | All ages

Come and tour our animal shelter! Learn how HAWS gets their animals and what we do to help animals. At the end of the tour, we will bring out 1-2 animals to socialize with!

Schallock Center for Animals Tour

$25 | 1 hour | All ages

Our Schallock Center is an old horse farm on 77 acres of land! Come and explore it with us when we point out the unique and cool features we’ve added. We’ll also get to greet our goats (weather dependent) and a horse!

Scout Badges and Awards

Working on an animal badge or planning a service project? Get involved with our shelter and make a difference for animals in need – check out the opportunities below.

Pets Badge
$5/scout | 90 minutes | Brownies

Go above and beyond to earn your pet badge! During this program the kids will get to learn about HAWS, go on a behind the scenes tour of the shelter, help with some volunteer work as a group, and socialize with 1-2 animals!

Horseback Riding Badge
$30/scout | 3 hours | Juniors

In this hands-on program, Girl Scouts will learn the basics of horseback riding and how to care for a horse, while gaining confidence and skills in the saddle. Whether it’s your first time around horses or you’re looking to build on what you know, this badge offers the perfect introduction to horsemanship.

*Maximum of 12 scouts per session.

Animal Helper Badge
$5/scout | 90 minutes | Cadettes

Come tour our main shelter facility and learn about not only the shelter, but the special qualities animals have that help humans. We will touch on the human-animal bond, how animals keep people safe, how animals help people emotionally, and how the scouts can help animals.
