#4: Blanket Donations Keep HAWS’ Herd Warm
Snow falls softly from above, slowly covering the field. Horses graze nearby, making this a picture-perfect winter moment.
But wait: it’s Wisconsin. Winter is cold. Frigid even.
The horses that make up HAWS’ Herd at our Schallock Center for Animals eagerly wait each morning to be led outside by the employees and volunteers of our barn crew. Our pastures allow them to stretch, inhale the fresh country air – and even get a little frisky! Since our team wants to these equine ambassadors to remain the incredible assets they are, having as much time outdoors as possible makes a huge impact on their well-being. Warming blankets are a must when the temperatures inevitably drop! (And not just for cuddling on the couch.)
Thankfully, we have a number of “horse people” in our corner who have generously donated horse blankets – in a variety of sizes to fit our smallest, mini horse Candy, up to our big boy Coco – our Holsteiner/Warmblood cross. (Hmmm, what’s that about “warmblood”?)
