#50: Mobile Adoption team and the Turkey Trot

HAWS Mobile Adoption team likes to have fun – visiting brew pups, restaurants, patio parties, baseball and hockey games, festivals, tailgates, homecomings and more.

And the fun doesn’t stop when the weather gets chilly!

Our friends at Think Pawsitive in Waukesha host the K9 Turkey Trot in early November at Minooka Park, with a portion of the proceeds donated to HAWS. While there is a 1-mile Trot for canines and their humans to enjoy together, the day also includes canine games, activities, goodie bags, a costume contest and more. Plus our Mobile team brings along – and participates with – adoptable dogs from HAWS.

Events like the Turkey Trot are popular with HAWS residents, getting them out of the shelter for several hours and doing activities that can really show them off to prospective adopters. It’s always great when we can give our dogs some “real-life” outing time, which ultimately helps us get to know them better and find them the best possible match.

The Mobile Adoption program was created to gain visibility for both our adoptables and HAWS in general. Our Mobile Ambassadors are the keys to success in so many ways. We are thankful for their enthusiasm and willingness to hit the road for a good cause!
