#25: Hooves & Flights…and summer cleanup!
Each spring, HAWS staff and volunteers do a thorough cleanup of the stalls, arena and public areas of our Schallock Center for Animals, to prep for upcoming summer camp sessions and special events.
It’s a big job – but it makes a tremendous difference for all who enjoy the SCA in the summer months. (We know the camp kids are there for a “farm” experience, but we still want them to see the Center at its best, and get the most out of their camp time!) The arena needs to be ready for running and jumping (kids), the auxiliary stalls for dogs for Camp Gone to the Dogs and cats for cuddling encounters…everything needs to be fresh and ready for a season of learning and fun.
And the most special of Schallock Center special events: Our 3rd annual Hooves & Flights in support of Ranger’s Fund is Friday, June 6th. Guests enjoy beer and wine flights, light appetizers, and self-guided tours of the facility along with trivia contests and a meet’n’greet with several of the Center’s resident horses and goats. This evening raises money for care of the HAWS Herd, including food, medical bills, and any other items needed to best support our hooved education team.
