Part-Time Animal Caretaker
Come join us! This position is more than cuddles and cute faces. Our Animal Caretakers are responsible for the daily care and well-being of animals at HAWS. This includes feeding, cleaning, basic medical care, and assisting with adoptions.
Hours consist of afternoons between 3PM-7PM and a Saturday or Sunday.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Feed & Hydrate: Keeping bellies full and water bowls fresh.
- Clean & Sanitize: Yes, there’s poop. Yes, you’ll clean it, making sure our animals have a clean and comfortable stay while they are with us. Also to make sure our kennels put our best face forward (but it’s rewarding, we promise).
- Health Check: Spotting signs of illness because you care about more than wagging tails.
- Animal Handling: Safely manage animals of all sizes and temperaments.
- Adoption Support: Help our Adoption Counselors by taking prospective families on walks, introducing dogs or lending a helping hand wherever you can.
- Public Interaction: Answer questions and educate visitors when you are able.
What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous animal care experience preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and handle messy situations.
- Ready to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, our animals don’t take days off.
