Field and Facilities Coordinator
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Field and Facility Coordinator to oversee the maintenance and operation of our shelter’s facilities and grounds. This role ensures that our shelter environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable space for our animals, staff, volunteers and the public.
General Responsibilities and Position Functions:
- Maintain organizational mechanical and equipment including but not limited to plumbing, crematorium and grounds. Be responsive in needs presented and also proactive in addressing needs.
- Coordinate all maintenance on shelter equipment; collaborate with Schallock Center for Animals (SCA) Facilities & Grounds Assistant on SCA maintenance.
- Act as main contact with vendors providing organizational equipment and facilities management services including but not limited to janitorial services, mats, supplies and shelter/SCA equipment. Includes but is not limited to ordering responsibilities.
- Communicate efficiently and regularly with Assistant Director and SCA staff to ensure facilities maintenance and upkeep.
- Maintain a facilities equipment inventory for the organization’s two sites; with Assistant Director establish maintenance schedules and procedure for responsively addressing replacement or service.
- Support and act as primary staff contact for field and facilities volunteers; work with Volunteer Coordinator.
- Perform end of life euthanasia services for the public.
- Provide as needed support to kennel and adoption services.
- Support Assistant Director as needed and as appropriate in facilitating employee workers compensation and volunteer injury insurance claims.
- With Assistant Director, draft field and facilities annual budget; review financials monthly and ensure operating within budget guidelines.
- Uphold a good public image by providing excellent client services, being courteous, helpful and receptive to the public, staff and volunteers. The ability to maintain a customer friendly workplace is paramount.
- As needed assist with animal rescue response and disaster preparation and / or response.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of the position and department. Is self-motivated to learn; seeking out continuing education opportunities to enhance their own performance, improve shelter procedures and / or staff knowledge.
- Able to accept and supervise additional programs and projects as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma and work experience in a like position
- Preferred knowledge of animal behavior, care, and welfare
- Supervisory or management experience required
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
- Requires the ability to work under pressure and noisy conditions
- Previous experience working with animals in a shelter, veterinary clinic, or similar setting preferred
- Must be able to make decisions for all animals while considering shelter and public safety required
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Word Suite
- Excellent communication (written/verbal and nonverbal) and interpersonal skills required
- Animal handling experience with cats, dogs and other domestics
- Able to lift 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to pass criminal background check
- Carries personal vehicle insurance
