#3: Law Enforcement Appreciation Day – our animal rescue helpers!
When a resident calls to report an animal in distress, our rescue team is grateful for the assistance from local law enforcement! Often they are true first responders and initiate the rescues.
The trained professionals at HAWS have saved deer tangled in soccer nets, raccoons trapped in sewers, cats stuck in trees, raptor birds on power lines…but these incidents rarely happen in a controlled environment. Sheriff’s deputies lend a hand and direct traffic. A utility worker assists with a bucket truck. Local police and fire fighters give a ride to the tired stray that was happy to hop into their vehicle.
Teamwork makes the dream work – and that is never more evident than when an animal is in need. Thankfully, not only are our local first responders ready to assist, but they also have huge hearts when it comes to the animals in our community, and step forward every time.
