HAWS offers scholarships to children of families who are not otherwise able to send them. One of the ways we can continue to offer Kids Camp Waukesha is through camp sponsorship. Scholarships not only provide an opportunity for children who love animals, but also those that may not have had much interaction with them. Click here to find out more.

Two-Day Junior Handler Agility Camp
For Youth ages 10 – 18

Are you a youth ages 10 -18 who loves working and interacting with your family dog? Agility is a team activity between the human handler and the canine athlete. Participation in agility training builds the bond between humans and their dogs, can increase confidence in both handlers and dogs, and fosters the expansion of humane values to create stronger communities. In addition to the physical activity, agility provides dogs and people with the mental challenge of learning to communicate and work together. Training provides an opportunity for healthy exercise in a safe environment that allows for appropriate social distancing.

For this two-day weekend camp, youth will attend with their dog and learn the sport of agility. Youth and their dogs will attend the camp between 9 and 4 each day, with a one-hour break for lunch, during which their dogs will have an opportunity to rest in a crate. This camp will be held at the newly renovated Schallock Center for Animals in Delafield. Youth and their dogs will learn training techniques that can be adapted and practiced at home. Experienced trainers will ensure that dogs and handlers learn equipment in a safe and fun manner. We will also have experienced dogs on hand for youth to work with in addition to their own dogs that are new to agility.

Dates for this camp will be announced at a later date. The camp will be led by Nancy Wandersee, an experienced agility handler and trainer. If you have any questions regarding the camp, please contact Nancy at 262-542-8851 x114 or email [email protected]
