Not all animal shelters and humane societies have their own Animal Rescue department.
Our 24-hour on-call team answers every call for help when it comes to rescuing animals.
In addition to domestic animals, our team is also available to assist with wildlife in distress calls in Waukesha County.
HAWS maintains the state and federal permits necessary to legally care for wildlife and works cooperatively with area wildlife rehabilitators including the Wildlife In Need Center and Fellow Mortals. When necessary, HAWS rents humane, live traps for animals requiring capture and relocation. We strive to teach people to peacefully co-exist with wildlife.
HAWS’ staff member and wildlife rescuer, Susan Verden, contributed this helpful information article to HAWS’ April 2017 Tattle Tails newsletter.
